New cast for Ghost the musical!

From 13th January, Ghost the musical will have a new leading couple.

The production has announced Siobhan Dillion and Mark Evans as the leading pair of the Piccadilly theatre production.

Dillon and Evans will play the parts of Molly and Sam in Matthew Warchus’s musical, taking over from Caissie Levy and Richard Fleeshman who have been playing the roles since opening night in June.

Return of Eve Best in London

Award winning Eve Best will be returning to the London stage in 2012 to lead the cast of The Duchess of Malfi at the Old Vic.

The talented star of screen and film that may be best known for playing the Duchess of Windsor in the Kings Speech will be performing the title role in Webster’s tradgey.

The play will run from 17th March to 9th June. The Duchess of Malfi was written in the early 1600. It tells the tale of a young widow who, in marrying against the wishes of her family, sets in motion a trail of revenge and destruction.

All New People for West End.

American actor, Zach Braff known for his role in Scrubs, is going to make his first appearance on the West End.

He will d├ębut is own play called All New People which comes to London’s Duke of York’s theatre on 22 February.

The play is focused on a man called Charlie (Braff) spending his 35th birthday alone, hiding away from the world at his wealthy friends luxury apartment on Long Beach Island. His piece and quiet doesn’t last long when a group of misfits including a fireman and an eccentric British estate agent show up and change his plans.

Ditzy Elly Woods has not only made her way from a novel to a film, she is now on the West End. Those who enjoyed the novel and film of Legally Blonde will enjoy the musical adaptation.  

It’s about bubbly blonde Elle Woods getting into law school to win backing her ex boyfriend, Warner. She’s mocked by her fellow classmates for her ditzy attitude and pink outfits, she’s accepted as an internship on a murder case involving her favourite fitness guru. Through her knowledge of hair, she shows that is far more than just a ‘dumb blonde’ by winning the case.

Harry Potter star to perform in stage adaption of Wild Swans.

The actress who played Harry Potter’s girlfriend Cho Change, Katie Leung is performing in the stage adaptation of Wild Swans.

She beat more than 3,000 hopefuls to get the part based on Wild Swan’s author Jung Chang in the story about one courageous family living through China in the 20th century.

Magical Matilda performing on the West End

The loveable and magical girl, Matilda will be performing on the West End. After successful shows at The Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Ave.

The lovable tale of the girl will intelligence and magical powers has been adapted on stage by Dennis Kelly and award-winning musician and comedian Tim Minchin.

Sweeny Todd is going to the West End!

The production of Sweeney Todd, starring Michael Ball, will transfer to the West End's Adelphi Theatre in March next year.

The show, directed by Jonathan Kent, will transfer to the Adelphi from Chichester on 10th March 2012, following the run of One Man, Two Guvnors starring James Corden.

Originally a book by Hugh Wheeler, it was first performed in 1979 in Broadway but was last seen in London in 2005 where it had an extended season at Trafalgar Studios then at New Ambassadors and later transferred to Broadway where it won two Tony Awards.

Green Day musical coming to London

Green Day’s award-winning musical American Idiot is set to make its UK premiere next year and will tour the nation, ending at London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo in December 2012.

The musical was a big hit on Broadway when it opened in 2010 and it has already won two Tony Awards and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.

American Idiot will feature a thrilling American tour cast and will include music by the Grammy Award-winning punk rock band, Green Day.

Backbeat to end in February

It has been announced that musical Backbeat, which is held at the Duke of York's Theatre, will close earlier than expected on 18 February.

The production about the Beatles had originally been taking bookings up until 24 March.

Whatsonstage Awards 2012 nominees announced!

The Whatsonstage.com Awards have opened the votes for the public to decide the winner of each catagory, with the nominee’s having just recently been announced.

Ghost The Musical and Matilda The Musical are set for big wins as they both received nine nominations each. They shall battle it out in awards such as Best New Musical, Best Actress in a Musical and Best Actor in a Musical.
